Eastern General Hospital (EGH)'s Healthcare Living Laboratory, or HLL for short, is a first-of-its-kind collaborative workspace that brings healthcare professionals and industry partners together to drive new healthcare innovations and futureproof care for our patients. The three-storey facility, situated next to the EGH site, houses a Design & Experiential Centre and Engineering Design Unit to facilitate infrastructure innovation and spatial planning. It also serves as a site office for our team as we construct the campus.
What’s up at HLL?
Spatial mock-ups
A seamless care journey for patients and healthcare professionals starts with a good plan. At the HLL, our team utilises virtual reality and actual-sized models to test possibilities and configurations for our future clinical spaces. These mock-ups help us to enhance hospital design to ensure comfort, efficiency and space-adaptability.

Innovating for future generations
With our like-minded partners, we design and trial innovations to enhance the patient experience and staff efficiency, and improve care outcomes. As part of our commitment to environmental sustainability, we also study innovations that can help reduce the hospital’s carbon footprint while improving patient and staff wellness.
